VERTICAL Mouse Assists In Perfect Work Ergonomics

Any assignment on the computer is very prone to get you carried away in a manner that it is hard to remember when to take a break. There is no doubt about the fact that at least occasional breaks are quite important for keeping your body in perfect condition, despite all troubles. Prolonged use of a standard mouse can aggravate discomfort in elbows, forearm, wrist, etc. Only, breaks at regular intervals can reduce the impact of damage.

How dangerous can a computer ‘MOUSE’ be?

The natural position of arms is a kind in which wrist, forearm remain in a ‘thumbs-up’ position. Use of a standard mouse requires the user rotating and twisting the wrist to get a palm-down position or pronation. In this process of pronation of hand and wrist the forearm bones need to pivot on elbow by tightening joint space. According to some mouse users, it is a lot easier moving a mouse when the arms are flat on a desk. However, according to some scientists, this process increases pressure in carpal tunnel area. Gradually increasing wrist pressure has a strict connection with the carpal tunnel syndrome. If proper furniture layout assistance does not offer much help, you should try changing the mouse you use. Vertical mouse is a lot better compared to the usual one.

How can vertical mouse help you:

·         While using vertical mouse, forearm remains in a particular anatomical position that is somewhat similar to doing handshake. This posture reduces muscle use.

·         The wrist then relaxes on the side of the ‘bony’ baby finger. No compression causes to the soft tissues in the wrist.

·         The wrist still rests in a much comfortable neutral position. The large muscles in arms and not in wrists are involved in moving the mouse.

Consider certain important points:

1.    The mouse should be perfectly your palm size.
2.    A vertical mouse usually is operated with one hand.
3.    Vertical mouse increases lateral reach. Users often need to reach around for access to mouse. After doing proper job demands analysis, you can decide whether vertical mouse is perfect for your job requirement or not.
4.    You should position a vertical mouse right beside the keyboard to make it the most convenient to reach it.
5.    If a person has started suffering from elbow pain, a vertical mouse is the answer to all discomfort caused due to the problem.
6.    Even if you are using a vertical mouse, there is still the necessity to take breaks to keep your health in perfect condition.

Apart from changing the work process, tools (like mouse), you should also concentrate on furniture layout assistance for proper work ergonomics.
